Frequently asked questions

Ordering, shipping, and the technical questions that come up most. If your question is not here, ask us — we would rather answer than have you order the wrong thing.

Ordering

Placing an order

Do I have to be a company or an institution to order?

No. Laboxin supplies universities, companies and private individuals on the same terms. You do not need a purchase order, an institutional email address or an account manager — you can order directly through the shop like any other online purchase.

Do I need to create an account?

An account is not required to place an order, but creating one lets you see your order history and track deliveries from your account page. You can also check an order without an account using the order tracking page.

What currency are prices in, and is VAT included?

Prices are shown in euro.

INSERT THIS — whether displayed prices include or exclude VAT, what rate applies, how VAT is handled for EU business customers with a valid VAT number, and what happens for customers outside the EU.

Can I get a quotation or pay against an invoice?

INSERT THIS — whether you issue formal quotations, accept purchase orders, and offer payment on invoice for institutional buyers. Many university and company buyers cannot use a card and will leave if this is not answered.

Is there a minimum order?

INSERT THIS — any minimum order value, or confirm that there is none.

Delivery

Shipping and delivery

Where do you ship to?

Laboxin ships from Sweden.

INSERT THIS — the list of countries or regions you ship to, and any you cannot ship to.

What does shipping cost and how long does it take?

INSERT THIS — your carriers, shipping rates or rate bands, typical dispatch time, typical transit times by destination, and any free-shipping threshold.

Will I pay customs duties or import VAT?

INSERT THIS — how duties and import VAT are handled for deliveries outside the EU: whether they are included at checkout or charged on delivery. This is the single most common pre-purchase question for international buyers, and leaving it unanswered costs orders.

How is glassware packed?

INSERT THIS — how you pack fragile glassware and whether shipments are insured. Buyers of expensive glass want to know this before they commit.

Is everything in stock?

INSERT THIS — whether listed items are held in stock in Sweden or ordered in on demand, and the lead time in each case.

The glassware

Products and specifications

Is this genuine Synthware glassware?

Yes. Everything listed in the Synthware range is original Synthware glassware, supplied through the official distribution chain.

INSERT THIS — if you hold formal authorised-distributor status, say so here and name the territories.

What is borosilicate 3.3, and why does it matter?

The 3.3 is the glass’s coefficient of linear thermal expansion, 3.3 × 10−6 K−1. Ordinary soda-lime glass is nearly three times higher, which is why it cracks under temperature changes that borosilicate shrugs off. Borosilicate 3.3 also sits in the highest class for water and acid resistance. The full property set, the temperature limits and an honest list of what will damage it are in the material guide.

Which joint size do I need?

Match the first number, then the second. The first is the cone diameter in millimetres at its widest point, the second is the ground length. 24/40 and 24/29 both start at 24 mm and will physically engage, but they are not a standard pair and should not be trusted under vacuum. The joints guide has a fit checker that draws any two joints to scale and tells you whether they mate.

Which filter porosity grade should I choose?

It depends on what you are retaining. P2 is the general-purpose grade for crystalline precipitates, P3 the most common for analytical filtration, P4 for fine precipitates and P5 for bacterial filtration. Grades are rated by maximum pore size, so retention is not a clean cut-off. The porosity guide has the full table, the ASTM cross-reference and a simulator you can test your own case against.

Will Synthware glassware fit the equipment I already have?

If your existing glassware uses standard taper or spherical joints of the same size, yes. Every standard taper joint shares the same 1:10 taper regardless of manufacturer, so the brands interchange as long as the sizes match. Where they do not match, a reducing or expanding adapter almost always exists.

Can you source something that is not listed?

The Synthware catalogue is larger than the selection in the shop. If you need a size, port configuration or joint combination you cannot find, send us the specification and we will tell you whether it can be sourced and what it would cost.

Do you sell second-hand equipment?

Yes. We regularly acquire previously owned laboratory glassware and equipment, inspect every piece, and list what is sound. Prices start at around €5, and stock is limited to what we currently hold. See how second-hand works or browse what is in stock.

Second-hand glassware is neither sterile nor food-safe, and cosmetic wear is normal. The full condition statement is on every product page.

After the order

Deliveries, damage and returns

How do I track my order?

Use the order tracking page with your order number and the email address you ordered with, or sign in to your account.

Something arrived broken. What now?

INSERT THIS — your breakage policy: how soon damage must be reported, whether you need photographs of the item and the packaging, and how replacements or refunds are handled. Contact us at mail@laboxin.com in the meantime.

Can I return something I ordered by mistake?

INSERT THIS — your returns window, the condition items must be in, who pays return shipping, and any restocking fee. There is already a draft Refund and Returns Policy page in the site; finishing and publishing it and linking it here would close this off properly.

Is there a warranty?

INSERT THIS — any manufacturing-defect warranty on the glassware, its length, and what it does and does not cover.

How do I get in touch?

Email mail@laboxin.com or use the form on the contact page. If your question is about a specific item, include the product name or catalogue number and we can answer properly first time.
